During the summer of 2024, I had the privilege of serving as a service academy sponsored Philmont Scout Ranger in Cimarron, NM. In this role, I completed advanced backcountry training and guided three 12-person crews on high-adventure treks through the rugged terrain of Philmont.
From this experience, I deepened my appreciation for the outdoors, strengthened my communication and teaching skills, and got some firsthand lessons in risk mitigation and stress management (thank you lightning storms) . I had so much fun participating in this program, and one day, without a doubt I will be going back to Philmont!
